VIKING MINI PIPING FOOT
Add packaged piping to seams and edges for a polished, professional finish. Create custom piping by covering cord with fabric for a unique decorative touch. The clear foot design provides excellent visibility, allowing you to see the piping placement and precisely align your stitches. It also enables you to follow the first row of stitching and adjust the needle position to sew neatly alongside it. Use a straight stitch with a length of 2.5 for best results.
How to Use:
Creating Custom Piping:
- Snap on the Mini Piping Foot.
- Cut fabric strips on the bias or crosswise grain, ensuring they are wide enough to cover the cord plus seam allowances.
- Place the cording on the wrong side of the fabric strip and wrap the fabric around it.
- Position the fabric and cord under the Mini Piping Foot, aligning the cord within the groove on the underside of the foot.
- Sew, allowing the groove to guide the cord so the fabric wraps evenly.
Tip: When inserting this piping into a project, adjust the needle position slightly closer to the cord to conceal the initial stitching.
Sewing Piping into a Seam:
- Snap on the Mini Piping Foot.
- Align the piping along the seam line on the right side of the fabric and stitch it in place, keeping the piping in the groove of the foot.
- Place the second fabric piece on top, right sides together.
- Position the fabric and piping layers under the Mini Piping Foot, ensuring the piping stays in the groove. Sew, allowing the foot to guide the piping as you stitch.
Tip: Clip the seam allowance of the piping at curves and corners for a smoother finish.
