Start Quilting



Do you want to learn how to create a quilt?   In this 6 week beginning to quilt sessions, you will learn the basic quilting tools and terms, the art of folding and cutting fabric, how to sew 6 different basic quilt blocks, how to assemble and quilt a quilt top and binding.  We will work through quilt blocks known as rail, 9 patch, flying geese, half square triangles and log cabin.  At the end of the course, you will have the knowledge of quilting basics to complete a beautiful heirloom.  All from Alex Anderson's book Start Quilting.  Ages 15 and up.  

Required basic supplies:

Rotary cutter
Cutting mat 18 x 24
6 x 24(minimum ruler
Pins
Marking pen
Scissors
Seam ripper
Neutral color thread
Sewing machine in good working condition
Alex Anderson's start quilting book

Optional Wing Clipper Ruler, Block_Loc Half Square Triangle Ruler

Week 1- Pick Fabric, quilting tools and terms, art of folding and cutting fabric, squat quarter inch
Week 2 - Rail, Nine Patch, and Nine Patch Variation
Week 3 - Flying Geese and Half Square Triangles
Week 4 - Log Cabin and Complete Previous Blocks
Week 5 - Quilt Assembly and Quilting
Week 6 - Quilting and binding
