Sardine Pillow

Come Sew with Kristin Rauch and Make These Adorable Sardines!
Reel in some fun with the delightful Sardine Pillow! Join us at Smith-Owen Sewing as the talented Kristin Rauch of Woollypetals shows you how to make her quirky, colorful fish-shaped pillows that are guaranteed to make a splash in any room. With the Sardine Pillow Pattern, you can create either a 36-inch-long sardine (hello, body pillow!) or a 24-inch version (aka the mini baguette of pillows). The size difference is hilariously charming — one’s a snuggly fish, the other’s a perfect little accent!
The pattern includes multiple customizable options, all from the same set of pattern pieces:
-
Sew your sardine from one single fabric,
-
Or mix it up with a separate head and body fabric,
-
Or go all-in with a fully pieced sardine: two different body fabrics, a head, and even an optional flipper!
You can also add a top fin to any version, and choose to make your sardine two-sided (pieced front and back) or one-sided with a solid fabric back.
These fish are beginner-friendly but endlessly customizable—think bright and bold, soft and subtle, or even a whole school of coordinating pillows. Whether you keep yours or gift it to someone special, you’ll leave class with a one-of-a-kind creation and the skills to make more.
Bring your fabric stash and your sense of humor—this is going to be a fin-tastic day of sewing! So many possibilities — come stitch up something uniquely fishy and fun!
You can also take Kristin's Silly Goose class. More info here.

| Instructor Bio: | I am a stay at home mom to two crazy kids who I love dearly! I love all things crafty, cute, diy, and vintage. I spend my days playing and taking care of my family, home, and crafting during nap times and late into the night. I have been married to my wonderful Husband since February 2004 and am still madly in love with him. I started this blog as an outlet to share my creative thoughts, my life, and maybe if I’m lucky inspire others to be creative. My philosophy is to make whatever I can beautiful be it something I sew or a room I decorate. I also believe that every girl (and guy if they please) should have a lesson in sewing as it is a wonderful life skill and so empowering. |
