Sashiko Stitching
Sashiko is a traditional form of Japanese embroidery that uses a basic running stitch to create repetitive patterns. It was first used to mend and reinforce clothing for Japanese fishermen. It didn’t take too long for the stitching to be recognized as appealing decorative stitching as well. In this class, we will be using pre-printed cloths that will help to learn the art of Sashiko stitching fun and easy. You can easily turn these cloths into usable pieces from pincushions, coasters, placemats, pillows, and totes. Then watch out jeans and jackets your turn is next.
