Join Sue for two days of creative stitching in her newest class!
Design and hand stitch a small piece featuring animal images from her book Folktails. This small study workshop is presented as a creative design class, allowing each participant’s piece to be unique.
Instruction begins with layering techniques, using simple stitches and fabrics for creating a textured background.
Sue then guides you through the design process, drawing inspiration from the charming and whimsical animal images that tell her story in Folktails, assisting with selecting images and developing the applique designs for the piece.
Last, but not least… Embellish your piece by continuing the layering process using hand dyed wool, silk velvet, silk, linen and cotton fabrics. Challenge yourself by experimenting with a variety of speciality threads, exploring stitches and stitch combinations that add depth and texture to your work.
The finished 15" x 15" square makes the perfect centerpiece for a unique folk-art inspired cushion, tote or small wall piece.
