One Million Pillowcase Challenge
Calling all quilters, sewers and crafters! American Patchwork & Quilting is challenging you to join our efforts to Make a Pillowcase, Make a Difference. Every pillowcase can make a difference in your community. Smith-Owen is asking you to join us in contributing to this wonderful cause.

Harvest Shop Hop 2010
Take a magical trip through ten of West Michigan's favorite quilt shops.
How it works- Start out at any one of the listed quilt shops. Here you will receive your Shop Hop Passport and a pin. (You can pick this up a week before the event begins.) Each shop will have more goodies and discounts up to 20%. You will also receive a free pattern at each store, if you collect them all you will have a complete quilt pattern. Have your passport stamped as you visit the shops. All completed passports (stamped for each shop) will be entered into a drawing for many wonderful prizes. This is a great chance to have fun traveling around with friends and visit your local quilt shops.

A Bag a Month
Each month look forward to a new bag class.  It may be small or medium or large.  It may be a tote, a purse, a wallet or laptop case.  If you like things that carry other things you are going to have a lot of fun with these classes.

Scrap Therapy is happening at Smith Owen with Rose                                
Scrap Therapy addresses the stash problem by teaching quilters how to turn their mounds of beautiful fabric scraps into usable sizes.  Once your cutting is under way you are ready to create quilts and other projects with the patterns designed for Scrap Therapy.  You can also adapt your own patterns as well.  We have been doing cutting classes and will continue to do them. We will have classes that use your scraps in beautiful quilts and projects.  You are going to love the way this technique gets you organized.  Meet with our therapist and learn the concepts of the therapy and how to cut and organize your scraps.

Traditional Rug Weaving on a Frame with Joann
Remember the great woven fabric rugs grandma had?  If you are interested in learning the age-old technique of  using a frame to weave fabric strips into a  rug that is not only cool but also very durable, you will love this class.  This is a great way to use up some of your stash or start from scratch with your fabric selection.  You will need a frame which your instructor, Joann, will have available for purchase at class time.

2010 Quilter's Journey Shop Hop
It's a year long shop hop featuring a different shop each month. Each month you may visit the featured shop for specials, Shop Hop block and other surprises. Cost is only $5.00 and you have 12 opportunities for specials and prizes by visiting these shops.

Night Out with Carolyn Eary
Bring your UFO's and a snack to share for a night of fun or invite some of your friends for an evening out in air conditioning.  Come for a couple of hours or until the clock ticks the night away.

Open Sew with Alice
Bring your unfinished (or new) projects and let's do some sewing!  We can help one another, share ideas and just have fun.  Sign up early, space is limited to 15 people.  No fee.

Open Sew with Margo
Margo invites you to join her for open sew at Smith Owen.  Bring your sewing projects to our air conditioned class room.  All types of sewing welcome - machine or handwork.  Look for fun as you get your projects done.  No fee.

Quilt Retreat 2010
Smith-Owen Sewing & Quilt Center presents our 6th annual Quilt Retreat held at the beautiful Kettunen Center in Tustin, MI.  Come and join other quilting enthusiasts for the fun. Just think, a weekend of quilting with no interruptions, no phone calls, no cooking or cleaning, just pure sewing pleasure. Everyone is welcome, no matter what kind of machine you have or skill level.
