Purchased
sweatshirt with set in sleeves (I prefer a man’s or unisex sweatshirt
because when a women’s shirt lower band is removed it can be too short
in length) The internet is a great way to find a sweatshirt if you can’t
find what your looking for. Preshrink
sweatshirt: I suggest that washed with ¼ cup white vinegar. To
speed up class time, remove the sleeve and bottom cuffs ahead of time. Fabric:
Precut
2 ½” strips such as jelly roll or Hoffman’s Bali pops or you
can use as many colors as you like and cut them into 2 ½” strips
totaling 2 ½ - 3 yards ¾
- 7/8 yard for sleeves ¾
yard for binding Pencil and paper for taking notes will be helpful. Rotary
cutter, mat and ruler, suggested size is a 6” – 8 ½” wide by 24 –
24 ½” long ruler Thread: 60wt
thread to match sweatshirt such as Thread
for the decorative stitching--I used Marking
pen or pencil that will show on the color of sweatshirt you have chosen
must be able to wash away after use. Bohin make a pencil with many
different colors of leads or Clover make a White marking pen (fine)
that washes away or disappears with iron 75
Stretch needle to put sweatshirt back together Pins Sewing machine in good working order and walking foot would be very helpful Basic sewing supplies Please leave your machine on the floor for the beginning of this class.
