Supplies:
Different techniques are taught at each
session
--Baltimore Basics by Mimi Dietrich's or the design of your choice.
--Basic sewing supplies (seam ripper, straight pins)
--Marking pen (be sure the markers you choose can be seen on the fabric colors you choose, I like using a pigma pen) or a white marking chalk by Bohin.
--Roxanne's Basting Glue
--Small thread cutting scissors and normal fabric cutting scissors
--Appliqué pins, I find Clover Appliqué Pins (1/2") work very well.
--Hand sewing needles, I use a 10 or 12 between, some prefer at long needle such as a straw needle. We will discuss many options in class.
--Thimble of your choice.
--If you would like you may bring a small light and/or magnifying glass if you are used to using them when doing hand work.
--Freezer Paper by the roll or in sheets
--Thread - we will discuss and try many options. Bring what you have and we will see what works for you. I prefer YLI #100 Silk and YLI Select and Heirloom threads
--Fabrics will depend on what size quilt you plan to make. As a general rule, 1 fat quarter is big enough for the background square and for the appliqué fabrics, you can use 6 - 10 fat quarters for all your blocks. |
