Supplies:
If
you have light colored “ugly” fabric scraps and cotton or cotton blend
batting scraps at least 18 inches, bring them. If not, a ½ yard of
muslin and a crib batt will work great.
-- Small scissors or snips
-- Sewing machine – make sure it has been recently cleaned and the
tension is working fine.
-- Darning foot, also called a “free motion quilting” foot or an
“embroidery foot”. Please come in or call well before the class
as sometimes it takes a few weeks for the right foot to come in.
Most machines can use a universal foot. Machine made by Bernina or
Viking will require a special foot. Please contact your preferred
sewing machine shop for more info.
-- Thread of your choose. We will spend only a short amount of time
discussing threads and needles, so please bring what you have, and we will
learn with them. When it comes time to work on your actual quilt, I
will help your find the perfect thread.
-- Needle: I prefer a 80 Topstitch needle, or a 70 or 80 Microtech Sharps
-- Quilt Gloves - optional
-- A machine extension table. The bigger your extension the better
and sense we are only having 6 people in this class, we should have plenty
of room for even the largest ones. If you can not get an extension
table, please bring large hard covered books (such as “coffee table”
books) that when stacked up, will measure the height of your sewing
machine bed.
