Pattern ~ “Twice Embellished Jacket” by Carolyn’s Creative Designs
pattern required
Purchased sweatshirt with set in sleeves (I prefer a man’s or unisex
sweatshirt because when a women’s shirt lower band is removed it can be
too short in length.
Preshrink sweatshirt: I suggest that washed with ¼ cup white
vinegar.
To
speed up class time, remove the sleeve and bottom cuffs ahead of time.
Fabric:
¾ yard for binding
¾ yard for cuffs and yoke, do not preshrink before you come to class this
technique will be washed after you have you have done your decorative
work.
1/8 yard or fat ¼ of contrasting color to cover cording for piping
optional
Notions:
Embellishing yarn or trims 10 -15 yards (you will need more for shirts
that are 2X or larger.
1/8” wide Cording to cover for piping is optional
Twin Needle ~ 3.0/80 embroidery for pin tucks (optional) Make
sure your throat plate can accommodate this width or you can use a 3.0/80.
For
the twin needle, bring your appliqué foot, pin tuck foot or Viking F
foot. If you are not sure what foot will work, bring your feet to class
and we will figure out which one will work. You will want to bring an
extra bobbin. If your machine does not have an extra thread spool holder,
bring a cup. Bring your manual if it gives information on threading for a
twin needle.
Thread:
1-2 spools to match sweatshirt
Invisible for attaching embellishing yarn or trims ; clear for light and
smoke for dark
You may choose to use contrasting thread for pintucks and couching the
sample used variegated thread for the pintucks

and covered them with fabric yarn and beads
