12 Days of Christmas Wool Block of the Month  with Pam and Kathi
Taking the basic patterns and inspiration from Nancy Halvorson’s book 12 Days of Christmas, we have put our own twist on it and are using wool and cotton to make this quilt as you go quilt.  In this quilt you will be doing wool appliqué and also some turned cotton appliqué.  You can decide whether to machine or hand stitch your appliqué.  The background is simply pieced with wool and cotton, adding borders. The backing will be added to each block so that block can be quilted.  We will put it all together after the 12 blocks are stitched and you will have a finished quilt.  Monthly class meeting will be offered, but you can also pick up your block monthly.  Sign ups to secure a kit will be taken during January only.  There will not be extra kits.
Date:   2nd Friday of the month beginning in February, Feb. 12, March 12, April 9
Time:  10-12noon
Cost:   $10 per class

Build A Block $5

Magnolia Wool Block of the Month with Nancy M Roelfsema
Magnolia is a wool appliquéd quilt by Sue Spargo that will surely become a treasured heirloom to be cherished for many years to come.

This is Sue's description of how she came to design and stitch this quilt: “My Magnolia Quilt was inspired by home, garden and family and by the setting in which I experience those three things - the small towns of Ohio .  There is a town in Ohio called Magnolia.  It is a wonderful place that I drive through on my way to my friend Cathy’s home on one of Ohio ’s lakes.  Magnolia has many old homes with lovely porches looking out onto colorful flower gardens. In designing the quilt I challenged myself to use many of my collection of textural fabrics and embellishments, as well as hand-dyed wool and cotton prints.”

Each month Nancy will have the kits ready for you to pick up or you may attend the monthly class and get your kit then.

Date:   Third Monday of the month - Jan. 18, Feb. 15, March 15, April 19, May 17
Time:  6-8pm
Cost:   Optional class is $10.00 per month
             Kit is $30.00 per month

Memories from the Lodge with Amy
This is a gorgeous “woodsy” appliqué quilt that you will do monthly. The nine pieced blocks are large with appliqué overlays. With this quilt as you go project you will have the opportunity to do raw edge or satin stitch appliqué and some thread painting. As you complete each square, you complete the quilt. This quilt is for people with some experience quilting.  Use this opportunity to do the whole quilt or one or several individual blocks for wall hangings.

Hoop Sisters TNT Embroidery Block of the Month with Pam
We have combined forces with Hoopsisters to offer their unique Embroidablock of the Month program.  The quilt for 2010 is entitled, “TNT”, Textures and New Techniques” and is absolutely exquisite.   Their technique of combining embroidery with piecing and quilting is extraordinary.  Last year’s quilt, Crazy Compass was a huge hit, and we are happy to announce our participation in this year’s program.  We will be meeting monthly when you will be able to receive your design and work on your block for that month.
